Well the joke is on me. I finished my first guitar today. I had the strings off a few times while I was setting it up. Finally got the setup done perfectly. Was restringing it when ...Snap! I broke the 2nd string! I only had one set, all the shops are shut, and tomorrow is ANZAC day (same as Memorial day) so no shops will be open. And, the worst part is that it was my own stupid fault - I put the second string on in place of the first string when I strung it up the first time, then had to staighten it out and put in it's rightful place. It broke right at the kink, as you'd expect.

Moral; have two sets of strings on hand when stringing a new guitar, and think about what you're doing.

The good news is that it turned out much better than I expected, and sounded pretty good as soon as it was strung up. I'll post some pics tomorrow, it's too dark to take any now.

Anybody know any tunes that don't need the 2nd string?

Turns out the G string on my electric is the same gauge as the B on my acoustic set. I'm back in business!
